But it is selfish to pry at it in such a way, so he keeps it to himself. Hythlodaeus very clearly is suffering from the guilt of it as it is.
His eyebrows furrow. "Which is to say of course I do not think less of you, Hythlodaeus. I am sad for you, but you are far from ruined in my eyes." After all, he kept falling back on useless hopes for Azem after millennia. It would take that much or even longer for him to lose it completely for Hythlodaeus.
