It has been moons now that Emet-Selch feels he’s seeing changes in Hythlodaeus, and it has affected his own mood for the worse. Though of course by now he’s able to cover all that up with his eccentric gestures and silly words. Inside though, he feels as though his chest is always aching, always heavy. Not quite the way it was during thousands of years of Ascian plotting, but significantly noticeable nonetheless.

At the end of the day all that matters is that he’s here for Hythlodaeus, that he keeps him safe, gives him the happiness and freedom he deserves.

So when he feels that something is off, he closes what he’s reading immediately and sets it aside. His heart sinks a little at the question, turning him rather cautious as he frowns and answers.

“What kind of question is that? Of course I would.”
